Ms. Wood holds an undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a law degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. She has devoted her career to the practice of criminal law, earning a reputation as a leading authority on Wisconsin’s drunk-driving (OWI) laws. Ms. Wood is the only Wisconsin criminal defense attorney to be listed in Best Lawyers in America for appellate work. Since beginning her legal career in 1992, Ms. Wood has been at the forefront of the legal profession and has earned recognition across the state for her achievements. In the State of Wisconsin, she is the first Wisconsin attorney ever to be appointed to the Board of Regents (the Amicus Committee) to the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), at Harvard Law School and was that Board’s first female member nationally. Ms. Wood is a former President of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is also the first attorney in Wisconsin ever to be appointed as a Standardized Field Sobriety Test instructor. Ms. Wood has won numerous awards for her dedicated representation of some of Wisconsin’s most condemned criminals. She has been recognized by Superlawyers every year since 2007, and was selected for an article highlighting her defense of individuals in Wisconsin in both its Madison and Milwaukee publications. She has been named one of the Top 25 Women Wisconsin Super Lawyers four years in a row. She was also named to the Top 25 Madison Super Lawyers. Ms. Wood has also been recognized among her local peers as one of Madison’s Best Criminal Defense Lawyers. She is the past president of both the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
